Modelling Social Innovation for Young Entrepreneurs Living in the Marginalised Communities in Malaysia.

  •  Ideas - Social entrepreneur begins social mission in the form of an idea
  •  Prototyping and piloting - Social entrepreneur may then pilot or prototype the ideation
  •  Implementation - Social entrepreneur establishes new form of venture such as a social enterprise or a new policy within an existing institution
  •  Scaling - Social entrepreneur finally scales up products/ services so as to develop new approach and new impact and becomes part of the norm


This paper describes how to model the young entrepreneur's social innovation. Social innovation is been divided into two predictors which the first one is the elements of social innovation that can be grouped to three categories shown in figure above. The other predictor is the social innovation phases which include ideas, prototyping and piloting, implementation and scaling. In the conceptual framework above, it conceptualises the process of social innovation, its core activities and the extent to which it brings about the success of social enterprise. According to this journal, young people are keen to improvise their careers by responding to the shifting needs and opportunities when they are engaged in social innovation. Young entrepreneurs stated that these social innovation and its phases lead to success of the social enterprise. This paper suggests that young entrepreneurs who use the social innovation and its phases that has been discussed can play a part in the greater success of the social enterprise.
